On October 19th, EA shared a final update on The Sims Mobile, confirming that the app is entering its “final chapter” and will be closing down on January 20th 2026. At 1:59 PM UTC, players will no longer be able to play the mobile life sim or access any of their save data.
The Sims Mobile – not to be confused with The Sims Freeplay – was first launched on March 6th 2018. It has received more than 50 updates during its lifespan.
Its closure was announced in an official blog post on The Sims Mobile section of the EA website. The link periodically redirects to a 404 page, although it’s unclear if this is due to wider internet outages.
The Sims Mobile shutdown: a timeline
The Sims Mobile has a lot in store for its last few months. There are a few key dates you’re going to want to know about, followed by a long list of events for you to enjoy right up until the game’s last days.
October
On October 20th 2025, you’ll be able to grab The Sims Mobile’s very last major update. This one’s exciting (if bittersweet), as it’ll give you unlimited energy to finish up any projects you’re working on, and to make the most of it until the end.
You also won’t be able to buy any purchase packs or make any transactions involving real money after that point. You will, however, still be able to spend any you have left.
After that, on October 21st at 1:30 PM UTC, The Sims Mobile will be delisted from the app. This means you won’t be able to get it for the first time if you haven’t already got it saved to your account. You’ll still be able to reinstall the app if you’ve uninstalled it.
January
On January 6th 2026, all Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will be unlocked and free for all players, regardless of your level. This means you can make the most of anything you couldn’t access before.
Then, on January 20th at 1:59 PM UTC, The Sims Mobile will shut down permanently. The servers will close, making the game unplayable and save files inaccessible.
