Adventure Awaits is shaping up to be one of those expansions that hangs its hat on beefing up existing feature, in this case vacations; which is certainly not a bad thing considering all the new additions on offer!
But it seems we may be getting an interesting new, unexpected mechanic as The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits looks to be introducing Retirement Homes!
“Then we’ll put you in that crooked home we saw on 60 Minutes!”
As spotted by Reddit user evenm, and visible around 1:52 seconds into the gameplay trailer, one of the options for getaways is Senior Living Community.
Now, it seems pretty obvious what that entails, and as we see in the gameplay trailer the getaways in general offer Sims something of a more structured life with activities to take part in throughout each day.
What’s curious here is what exactly the Senior Living Community option will entail. I think it’s fair to say that old folks aren’t exactly against holidaying (in-fact they seem to spend a lot of time doing so in my experience) but going off to just live with other seniors seems odd to me.
Just two days from retirement
I think that this mechanic might have a little more to do with the speculation I’ve been spouting off regarding long-term getaways. I think it would certainly add value for money if it turns out some of these ‘getaways’ can be more long-term, and being able to send senior Sims to their own retirement homes could be an interesting way to strengthen the appeal of the mechanic.
If they are just another temporary vacation, however, it would be odd for this to be included. Then again considering it comes alongside the ‘Teen Popularity Contest’ I think it’s indisputable that this new mechanic in Adventure Awaits will indeed have different applications than just taking a few nights away from home.
But either way there’s plenty to look forward to in this expansion, as Toni can attest in their five things they’re look forward to!
