You may recall a few days ago that I was sceptical about the supposed upcoming expansion Enchanted by Nature that was apparently revealed by early listings on CD key resellers. At the time I pooh-poohed the idea, but it seems the egg is now on my face with the Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature’s new suite of teasers showing off all but the name!
With all that in mind then, let’s dig in and collate everything we know about this upcoming expansion so far.
Naturally
By now you’ve probably already seen the teaser video that shows off a dancing fairy house that seems to confirm the appearance of everyone’s favourite fae beings. But the newly-released teaser website essentially reveals everything but the name of the expansion itself, and whatever new cosmetics and furniture are coming (oh, and who can forget the fairies?).
To whit, this is what we know is coming with the new expansion:
- Innisgreen – A whole new town to explore, described as a ‘beautifully lush world where Sims live in harmony with nature.’ It features a waterfront area that’s ‘all about Gnomes’, a grove that blends nature and urban features, and an enchanted forest.
- Three New Traits – It seems that the new traits are (names not confirmed) Plant Lover, Mystical and Disruptive, all of which support the folklore and fairy-inspired nature of this upcoming expansion.
- Natural Living – Perhaps the most interesting new aspect of this upcoming expansion seems to indicate that you’ll be able to inhabit areas without the usual aspects to meet your Sims’ needs. That is, sleeping areas, plumbing and even food.
Under the stars
By all accounts the changes suggested here are pretty fundamental to The Sims 4. While Innisgreen is more likely to offer a thematic alteration, living without the usual necessities can open up many new avenues for how your Sim can live and thrive in new environments that don’t have all the things we take for granted in modern society.
No doubt there’s more that will be revealed soon, and with a reveal trailer slated for June 12th, with the release forecast for July 10th, we won’t need to wait long to find out more about what this expansion is all about.
