InZOI’s first free expansion is just around the corner with a launch set for August 20. The expansion, titled Island Getaway, has been very much anticipated by players for a while now, as it features the third playable city/island, Cahaya.
Players have been waiting eagerly for Cahaya since early access launched for the game in March of this year, but what exciting features and new additions does Cahaya have to offer? We’ve rounded up everything there is to know about the island ahead of launch, so let’s dive in!
InZOI’s Cat Island Cahaya: all there is to know
InZOI’s Cahaya Island is inspired by a Southeast Asian landscape, featuring a vibrant blend of city living and natural environments. Within Cahaya, players will have access to both a primary island for all of their main living needs, as well as a resort island where they can kick back, relax, and enjoy some unique activities. And between the two? Well, there’s also a mysterious deserted island that Zois can explore — sounds exciting, if not slightly ominous!
These activities include the likes of swimming, snorkeling, and boating: a true tropical island experience. In addition to this, Cahaya will add a series of gameplay features to the game, such as mining, farming, gem crafting, and fishing.
When it comes to Zoi and Families, players will have the option to either create a new household for Cahaya or move one of their existing InZOI households to this new Island Getaway location.
What can these families expect to find upon arrival? Pool parties, daily events, arcade games, massages and sauna sessions, treasure hunts, and food catering, just to name a few highlights. In addition to this, Zois can make a living by making and selling crafts or trading in harvested goods from the mining, farming, and fishing activities to turn a profit. There’s just one thing to look out for: the weather! Cahaya can go from torrential rainstorms to unbearable heatwaves, so you’ll need to be prepared for anything.
Showcased in the recent Cahaya gameplay trailer, there are also some new additions in the vehicles and transport section. This includes the likes of mopeds/motorcycles to zip around the island, or boats to go for a cruise on the water, or travel between islands and admire the scenery in full.
The most important feature of Cahaya: Cat Central
The most important feature of Cahaya is undoubtedly the inclusion of cats in the game. Pets, or specifically, cats, have been teased since InZOI was first playable, and are frequently seen on their promotional materials. Players have been eager to adopt pets in InZOI, with frequent questions regarding this topic consistently tossed out in the community.
Well, it seems like Cahaya may be the start of such features. While it is unclear if cats will be adoptable as pets within the Cahaya islands, the location itself is well-known for an abundance of feline friends who are known to inhabit the island. Sign me up, already!
Players can expect to find these little cattos trotting around the islands, and will even be able to interact with them and give them some cuddles along the way. Heck, there’s even a temple where you can go to pay your respects to the cats of Cahaya, who are seen as the guardians of the island.
Now that’s a tradition I can get behind.
InZOI Cahaya release date and known issues
Players will be able to jump into InZOI’s Cahaya content update shortly, as the free DLC content is set to unlock via Steam on August 20. However, the dev team have already noted a few key issues that players may need to keep in mind. Rest assured, hotfix patches are already in the works.
Until then, here’s what the InZOI team had to say:
1. Translation Quality Issues
Due to the overwhelming amount of content added during this update, we experienced some difficulty keeping translation quality consistent across all languages.
Our team is working to improve localization quality across all languages and will continue to make updates for better term consistency, coherence, and UI readability.
To check the localization progress for each language, go to [Settings > Gameplay].
2. Limitations on Accessing New Features
Due to compatibility issues, some new features and content will be unavailable on preexisting save files. This includes features related to city expansions and updated systems, which can only be properly accessed on new save files.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will take measures to make the game more backward compatible with updates going forward.
3. Mac Version Issues
Some features in the Windows version may not be fully supported on Mac systems at the time of the update’s release.
To address these issues, we will be implementing hotfixes after the update to make sure players can experience the game at the same quality on all platforms.
