It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a The Sims FreePlay player, with an absolute tonne of content and updates being added to the game to celebrate the upcoming 25th Anniversary Birthday Celebrations for The Sims.
As part of the celebrations, The Sims FreePlay is entering a monthlong period called ‘FreePlay 2000‘ which promises to send us (spiralling?) back 25 years to when the series first started out. We’ve already detailed SimChase Season 83, ‘The One with the Coffee Shop’, which not only follows the Friends’ naming convention but puts you in a heated rivalry as you attempt to run the best café.
‘My First Apartment’, however, is a brand new live event that runs from the anniversary date (February 4th — albeit, quite late in the day for us Brits) through until the 21st of the month.
The live event will add in a bunch of new objects including Abstract art, Vaporwave Wallpaper, Foosball and Ping Pong tables as well as the Park View Apartments – which feature a bunch of new housing parts and are modelled on the apartments from the Friends TV show.
The official description reads:
“Nothing says it’s my first apartment like dartboards, table tennis, and questionable art.
Build your perfect first apartment and get quirky roommates just like your favorite 2000s sitcom—all you’re missing now are the laugh tracks! Earn colorful wall interiors, Y2K TVs, and a whole Y2K apartment house lot to fill up.”
You’ll need to race through the objectives and construct plenty of crafts items to make sure that you unlock everything though, not least because the event only runs for nine days.

Dann's been playing Maxis' Sim games since their Step-Sister brought around SimCity 2000 on their SNES. Since then they've not only been an avid fan of everything Sims (and The Sims), but sold them, modded them and is now... running a site about them!
