The idea behind The Sims was always to create little, pixel people, with their own thoughts, interests, and wishes. Over time, the list grew. Throughout the generations, Sims gained aspirations, whims, memories, fears, and now, it looks like they’re about to start dreaming.
According to some code mining happening on X (AKA Twitter), The Sims 4’s May 27th patch seems to have brought a little more than what Maxis are letting on.
What we know about Dreams so far

Modders Lunar_Britney and ThePancake1 each shared some interesting lines of code included in the new patch in the experiments module. The cryptic text suggests that rewards will be earned based on completing your Sim’s Dream.
The code is predominantly written to trigger text to be displayed in the game in response to in-game triggers. So far, it all sounds fairly similar to systems we already have in the game, like Aspirations and Event Rewards.

Lunar_Britney continued digging around and shared a thread with a little more info about the Dream system. The thread highlighted four types of dreams: Family Farm, Friendly Neighbour, Successful Sims, and Generations. He noted that these would be the first Dreams added to Base Game. Some others will relate to DLC, like Expansion Packs.

Further screenshots make Dreams look an awful lot like events. Events are limited-time quests that get added to the game every so often, like the Reaper’s Rewards quests or the upcoming Nature’s Calling series. You’re given goals and guidance using the control overlay menu (which, incidentally, you can now easily turn off if you don’t vibe with it).

There hasn’t been any official mention or acknowledgement of Dreams yet. But, all might be revealed soon, with the Sim Your Summer season now underway and the upcoming Sims 4 roadmap arriving on June 5th. Anyone looking for a little midsummer night’s dream?
