Ah, vampires, children of the night, what music they make (yes, that line is technically about wolves, but I digress). Turning your Sims into one, or just playing with a family of them is the dream of every Buffy and Angel fan there is. And unsurprisingly they were added way back with the Sims 4: Vampires expansion.
But how do they work, and do Vampires age in The Sims 4?
Who wants to live forever?
The simple answer is no, Vampires do not age in The Sims 4. But it is a little more complicated than that. If a Vampire is naturally born into a Sims household then they will slowly age up until they reach young adulthood and stop there entirely.
You probably already know that your Sim can procreate with a Vampire – don’t ask me how that works – but the child won’t show symptoms until they’re old enough. It’s also worth noting that death by old age is also one of the death states vampiric Sims are immune to.
Silver bat(?)
Now if you think white hair looks snazzy on a vampire (just look at the original Castlevania version of Dracula) then don’t fret. You can still give your version of Spike that snazzy silver hair, however you’ll need to do it via Create-A-Sim, and it won’t happen naturally. It’s like Lost Boys; you stay young forever.
There are actually one or two mods that snuck across my desk which enable aging for vampires. Mainly if you don’t feed, which adds an extra layer to the whole vampire roleplaying element. But by default your Sim will remain whatever age they were turned at.
Suffice it to say then, there’s a lot of upsides being a vampire. But believe it or not they’re not what I’d define as being all that ‘spooky’. Unless you have hemophobia I suppose.
