Welcome Wagon: Meet your new neighbours in Gibbi Point

One of my favourite things about The Sims is the weird cast of neighbours you get to know when your Sim first arrives in their new world. It sounds like Adventure Awaits is going to be full of them, per a recent post on The Sims’ official blog.

Gibbi Point’s residents are a grab bag of old friends and unfamiliar faces, spread out all across the map. We’re even being treated to a couple of lore-specific Sims, like Pruella the Plumbird.

The who’s who of Gibbi Point

First up is the Perry household. Freeda Perry is the owner of Jellyfish Junction’s own Revive & Thrive, a Getaway destination known for its long list of exercise activities. She runs her fitness retreat while looking out for Dougie, her young grandson.

In contrast to Freeda’s friendly and outgoing nature, Dougie is a little shy and prefers the company of his bug collection. As a result, their household has one more member: WildChild, the imaginary friend.

Across in the nearby Wonderwood Wilds, you can find the Chavez-Ralstons running Camp Gibbi Gibbi. The family is made up of Nigel, who you might recognise from the trailer, his wife Sara, and their twin daughters, Erin and Aeris. Toshie and Raheel, two of their family friends, are often nearby, alongside Raheel’s sibling Laxmi.

Toshie, Raheel, and Laxmi play a critical role in Gibbi Point’s ecosystem. Toshie Akamine is known as the local Storyteller, while Raheel and Laxmi Kunal are both Lost Explorers. Laxmi even pulls a double shift as the region’s Butterfly Conservationist.

You can find another household up in Crystal Valley, known as Jane and Star Addam. They’re of no relation to the Addams Family, and instead are known for running the local Love Highland challenge. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Some familiar faces make a reappearance – for better or for worse

A couple of Sims from the franchise’s older generations get to hang out on Gibbi Point, too.

If you played some of The Sims earlier installments, you might already know the names Skip Broke and Agora Tchotchke. Skip was first included in The Sims 2, before reappearing as a child in The Sims 3, while Agora only appeared in The Sims: Life Stories.

Back in The Sims 2, Skip was – allegedly – dead, leaving behind his widow Brandi Broke. Although The Sims 4 is an alternative timeline to The Sims 2, meaning some of the characters’ lore is a little different, both the blog post and messages in the official Discord server suggest that Skip might’ve actually skipped out on his family by faking his death and setting sail on a new life in Gibbi Point. Um…

We don’t know exactly how Agora wound up on Gibbi Point, but her background is at least as dramatic as Skip’s. Back in The Sims: Life Stories, a lightweight version of The Sims 2 with a full story mode, Agora was shipped off to jail for kidnapping, demanding a ransom, and fighting her neighbour. Huh?

Gibbi Point’s own cryptids

On a less criminal note, Gibbi Point is also home to a couple of other odd NPCs.

Buddy Scoop is one of them. He’s an eccentric child who you can find hanging out around his family’s old mines, selling collectables as wares and challenging you to rock-paper-scissors. Sounds like an episode of The X-Files to me.

The last, and no less strange, NPC is Pruella the Plumbird. This is a Sim who… Somehow became a Plumbird. A very large one.

Due to her large stature, she became something of a Yowie to Gibbi Point’s residents, spurring on local legends and campfire stories. However, since Pruella came clean, she’s become an integral part of the area’s fabric. We love that for her.
