Like it or loathe it, this year will be a major milestone for streaming platform Twitch. That’s because they’re celebrating none other than a whopping 10 years of Twitchcon!
And naturally, The Sims won’t be missing out on the chance to make an appearance with community events and an official booth for fans to peruse at the upcoming Twitchcon, San Diego this month.
Twitchy
If you’ve somehow been defrosted from the year 2015 you may not have heard of Twitchcon. But this yearly convention in Rotterdam and San Diego brings together streamers and fans from across the globe. Be it just visiting or hosting their own panels and events, it allows creators and their followers to meet or simply be glimpsed amongst the throng.
Over the years it has arguably become a little more commercialised as top companies including game developers note its popularity. That means more official booths as they make their presence felt from October 17th to the 19th in San Diego.
Simsational
Naturally, The Sims 4 is no different. EA and Maxis will have their own official booth where there will be gameplay, merch, and even a few official creators making an appearance.
And having visited TwitchCon in an official capacity myself, I’d say any opportunity to grab some merch at an exclusive giveaway is welcome (boy, that official shop can be a pain in the wallet).
But for those of you who’re Sims superfans the most exciting event will be the Official Sims Community Meetup. Taking place on October 17th, you’ll have the chance to meet up with fellow fans, creators, and even some of the team members behind The Sims.
So whether you’re a longtime veteran (in which case, check out the leaked Sims 1 prototype for a trip down memory lane) or just starting out, if you’re in attendance at TwitchCon this year, it’s a must-add to your calendar!

A lifelong Maxis fan who grew up with SimCity 3000 and the lesser-known DS titles in the Sims catalogue, Iwan brings the obscure knowledge of things that have been and will be when it comes to The Sims.
