The Sims 4 Laundry List: What bugs are being investigated?

Gramma Hattie Loden in The Sims 4 Buisnesses and Hobbies running a bright and colourful laundromatt with loads of washing machines.

I hate doing laundry. But, I hate buggy games even more – especially when they’re problems that can lead to corrupted save files. With that in mind, I’m happy that The Sims team has declared this random dreary afternoon to be laundry day.

EA has shared their newest Laundry List of bugs and fixes they’re investigating ahead of The Sims 4’s upcoming updates. As confirmed by their recent Quality of Life Roadmap, this update reflects the ‘top community concerns’ shared on official forums with ‘upcoming fixes.’

The list is long – even for The Sims standards – which hopefully means some big changes are on the horizon.

A few significant problems they’re addressing include issues with animate gnomes, vanishing ghost children, untagged items, peculiar bike pedals, and all kinds of other weird issues that you can (and probably can’t) imagine.

Yay for no more arsonist toilet gnomes. No, I’m not making that up.

What’s included on the September 16th Laundry List?

A wall of eight washer/dryers in The Sims 4 all in different colours. Some have clothes washing around in them.

The list is genuinely ginormous and spans several different Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and even Kits. All of the problems EA is currently investigating include:

  • Sims with the entrepreneurial trait experience sudden jumps in career level.
  • The ‘Venue Info’ icon in Build Mode will not stop shining when there’s nothing new to display.
  • A Sim writing a book can’t resume it properly after being interrupted by another Sim to socialize
  • Sims always sit to drink water.
  • Interaction Progress (like cooking or writing) starts from the beginning after loading.
  • Last Exception triggers and Sims reset when exiting a Changing Table.
  • ymBottom_SDX037Jeans_SolidPink displays a white color swatch for Masculine Sims.
  • Duplicate Swatch shown for doorDoubleSliding2x1_SDX037BUILDERTileable3Tile_set1.
  • The Holiday menu closes when switching between Sims.
  • The swatch shown for shelfWallGFPlank2x1_01_set1 doesn’t match what is placed.
  • Skill cheats cannot be used to lower skill.
  • Eyeglasses look like sunglasses.
  • Some wall mailboxes appear under Misc Appliances instead of Trash Cans & Mailboxes.
  • “Summon a Privy Bush” interaction is not available for Vampire and Fairy child sims
  • Some fireplaces project light from the fire backwards
  • ymHair_EP19Mullet_Auburn hairstyle clips with hats.
  • “Fertilize All Crops” interaction is not functional on oversized crop plants with oversized crop fertilizer.
  • Gnome brought to life for Upgrades and Repairs keeps upgrading toilets with a Composting Container, leading to toilets catching fire.
  • Paint on Me! Wallpaper from the Business and Hobbies category does not appear when filtered by color.
  • Modern Grimpressions Bathroom Sink and Modern Grimpressions Kitchen Sink objects cannot be slotted at the top.
  • Nail paint creates a texture glitch on T-shirts yfTop_EP17ShirtGoth and ymTop_EP17ShirtGoth.
  • Child Sims don’t show up as ghosts when they die due to overheating & freezing.
  • Not all color tags are applied to Canopy Dreams and Drape Desires objects.
  • Tenant events are resolved as a failure even after the Property Owner fixes what’s needed on the Tenant’s lot.
  • Smooth Sail Diaper Pail trash cans don’t snap to Lavish One’s changing station
  • The Starry Eyed Collection Banquet Table should be present in Bars B/B category instead of Dining Tables.
  • Piercings from the Eco Lifestyle expansion pack have two identical bronze color swatches, but one of the piercing models is gold.
  • Bike pedals don’t align with the Sim’s feet when riding the bike from this pack.
  • ymBottom_EP08LeggingCropped_Solid Yellow displays a white color swatch for males.
  • Legal Case Files and Dr. Tyson’s Books of Learning were miscategorised under the sculptures category instead of the clutter category.
  • Pets get deformed when traveling to another lot after aging up.
  • Blue swatches for stair_rail_EP04CAxFrame_set5 display as brown when placed.
  • When selecting gray swatches for the object sculptwall_EP02GENchalk2x1_set1 a warm wood color is supplied instead.
  • Daring Hall Tree was miscategorised under the decorations: misc category instead of surfaces.
  • yfHair_GP12MedWavy_Black hair becomes short when zoomed out in-game.
  • Glass Top Stage Stairs is miscategorized under the surfaces misc category instead of misc decorations;
  • ymTop_GP08VestShirt has incorrect swatches.
  • yfTop_SP08TeeBoatNeck has the wrong color swatch.
  • Nails aren’t tagged for a masculine frame.
  • When selecting green/yellow swatches for the object ‘doorSingle1x1_SP40GENTileable3Tile_set1,’ the thumbnail displays a brown-colored door.
  • We’ll also be releasing a partial fix related to animations when Sims look at phones, though the main eye/eyelid issues discussed in the thread are still under investigation by the team.

Although fixes are underway for this long list, fixing (and finding) bugs can be a long, difficult process. This means it might take a little longer for some of these fixes to work their way into our games, even though the team is hard at work on them. They’re also investigating other bugs as they’re being reported.
