Inzoi, Krafton’s big pitch into the life sim genre, is set to cross a major threshold this month. On August 20th, the first major free DLC for Inzoi arrives with Island Getaway.
Taking your Zois to a tropical Southeast-Asian island, it promises to offer stunning vistas and plenty of opportunity for vacation drama.
Welcome to paradise
Rather than a Hawaiian theme as you might expect in The Sims, Inzoi takes you to the frequently teased Cahaya. This vibrant island is emblematic of Southeast Asia and offers both natural vistas and more laid-back city living.
The DLC also introduces a swathe of new activities like swimming, boating and snorkelling, as well as the requisite tropical-themed outfits, hairstyles and decor. The best part is that this isn’t limited to vacations, and you can play out the lives of Zois in this tropical paradise too.
Add onto that…
That’s still not all, as Inzoi is also introducing a bunch of new mini features. Farming, mining, gem crafting, fishing and rideable vehicles such as motorcycles and electric scooters. There’s also new systems for random gatherings, thought bubbles and cooperative actions.
While, of course, many of these are present in chief competitor The Sims 4, it’s not hard to be surprised by just how much else is being added in this single DLC. Which also comes with optimisations and 90 new music tracks.
Throwing down the gauntlet
Inzoi releasing such a major DLC for free could be seen as, more than anything, throwing down the gauntlet to The Sims 4. I’ll be covering this in an upcoming op-ed, but it’s hard to escape the fact that The Sims 4 would likely only receive this kind of massive content update as part of a paid expansion pack.
]With that in mind, intentionally or not I wouldn’t be surprised if Inzoi has players whispering about whether or not the free content EA offers is at the same level. And that may be something that grates on EA especially with the news they were shying away from The Sims 5 due to expansion bloat.

A lifelong Maxis fan who grew up with SimCity 3000 and the lesser-known DS titles in the Sims catalogue, Iwan brings the obscure knowledge of things that have been and will be when it comes to The Sims.
