By now you’re probably getting a little bit tired of hearing about Inzoi and comparisons to The Sims. But bear with us, because the fact that this now stands as the most credible competitor to The Sims is what makes it so interesting. And it seems Inzoi has been fuelling huge success for Krafton, with more spinoffs on the way.
Lot of cheddar
At least that’s according to Krafton’s latest financial results, which announced that Inzoi had sold over a million copies in under a week and helped push the company to record-high quarterly sales. That may seem like a drop in the ocean considering that another recent release The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered now has over three million players.
But aside from the significance for Krafton it’s worth noting the difference in circumstances and why this is so impressive. For one, partly because of the dominance of The Sims, the life simulation genre has been pretty stagnant with few competitors and interest mainly going towards Harvest Moon-likes such as Stardew Valley.
And being PC-only, especially for a primarily mobile-focused developer, it’s impressive to see Inzoi raking in so much success off the back of its early access launch.

What does this mean for us?
Krafton are quick in their report to say they’re taking Inzoi further. “KRAFTON plans to enhance gameplay and develop inZOI into another long-term franchise IP,” while also touting the Smart Zoi AI tech that has made the game both notable and somewhat-controversial as this new tech is wont to do.
In the short-term I’d hardly expect Inzoi to receive any spinoffs or new entries. And no doubt EA are already getting ready to push forward, perhaps with plans for a new Sims release or focusing more on mobile with Project Rena. Either way I think we can now firmly conclude that Inzoi has lit a fire under the life sim genre The Sims kickstarted all those years ago.
