Ready to step away from the PC for a bit this summer? Well, you might be in luck. One of the many treats teased in The Sims’ new season is the arrival of the much-awaited Sims board game.
According to an announcement on EA’s website, Goliath Games’ collaboration with The Sims is set to arrive this July. We think, at least. The announcement doesn’t specify a launch date, or really give any other info about the game, but it’s probably safe to assume that July is when the game arrives. Alternatively, it could indicate when we’ll be able to pre-order it, or even when we’ll just find out more details about it.
What we know so far

We’ve been left a few crumbs here and there about The Sims tabletop game over the past few months. But, we’re still in the dark about a few things. We haven’t had any official word on gameplay mechanics yet. And, we’re missing key practical details like how much the game will cost or where it’ll be available to buy. There’s an (alleged) leaked catalogue image floating around the internet, though, which gives us a few clues about how it might shape up.

If the graphic is anything to go off on, then we know it’s going to be based around The Sims 4. This is clear based on the art style for the board – which has a certain Catan-esq, ‘move the pieces around’ vibe to it – which looks like a riff on the Willow Creek neighbourhood map. The inclusion of certain characters and aspiration cards back that up too. Bob Pancakes makes an appearance, who only rocked up to our dollhouses when The Sims 4 launched in 2014. As well as Mr. Pancakes, cards show the Beach Life aspiration from Island Living, the legacy Goth manor, and more.
We’ll have to wait and see whether July marks the board game’s final release or just brings us a few more details about it. The Sim Your Summer season is bound to reveal all eventually, though. And hopefully sooner rather than later.
