In The Sims 4, there are many hazards around the world that can result in the death of your Sims. However, it turns out that once a Sim passes away, they may not necessarily be gone for good.
There are actually a few different ways that players can bring their beloved friends and family members back to life in The Sims 4, each of which has been explained in the guide below.
How to bring dead Sims back to life quickly in The Sims 4

In The Sims 4, there are a few ways that players can bring dead Sims back to life. The quickest and easiest way to do so is through the use of the cheat command console, which can be triggered by pressing a key combination of CTRL + SHIFT + C and then typing and entering “testingcheats true” into the text bot.
From here, players can then hold SHIFT and click on the Sim that they wish to revive. From here, you can then remove the death by “cause” trait, which will trigger the Sim to return to their living form.
Alternatively, you can also SHIFT + click on the Fountain of Youth and choose to ‘Wish for life’ to revive your dead Sim. In the case that they are not added to your household, you may first need to SHIFT + click on the Sim’s gravestone, and then add them to your household.
All natural ways to bring dead Sims back to life in The Sims 4

Aside from using the available cheats/commands for The Sims 4, there are also several options to revive dead Sims that can be utilized without the need for any shortcuts.
These options have been listed below:
Dedeathify spell
Spellcaster Sims can bring dead Sims back to life by learning and casting the Dedeathify Spell. To pull this off, players will need their Sim to be Master rank. They can then learn the Dedeathify spell from magical sages and then use it to target any Sim that has a spectral form wandering around the world.
Players will also need to target the ghost character themselves rather than their urn/gravestone.
The Book of Life
Sims who have mastered the Writing skill and completed the ‘Bestselling Author’ aspiration can write the Book of Life. A Book of Life can be used to record the life of a Sim of your choice.
However, Sims can not record their own lives in the Book of Life, so you may need more than one character with these capabilities, depending on the situation. After the Sim that has been recorded in the Book of Life dies, another Sim can read their Book of Life to summon them, if they aren’t already hanging around the household.
You can then have the ghost read their own Book of Life, which will revive them.
Ambrosia
Ghosts who eat ambrosia will be brought back from the dead. To fulfil this method, players can either have another Sim create ambrosia for the ghost to consume, or they can even download a pre-made household from the Gallery that already has ambrosia placed.
The Whispering Wishing Well
Ghost Sims can visit the Whispering Wishing Well to make a wish and be brought back to life. However, the Wishing Well can offer different outcomes from these scenarios, based on its current mood. Players can enhance the mood of the Wishing Well by making offerings.
A complete chart of all Wishing Well outcomes has been included below:
Outcome | Moodlet | Effect |
---|---|---|
Death | Sad +2 (Just a Ghost) | The wishing ghost Sim will instantly be resurrected, and then die again. |
Overwhelmingly Negative | Happy +1 (Accepted Fate) | The wishing ghost Sim cannot be resurrected for four hours. |
Negative | Sad +1 (Wish Not Granted) | The ghost Sim’s wish is rejected, and their coin is wasted. |
Neutral | Inspired +1 (Ingredients of Life) | The wishing ghost Sim will instantly receive a random ingredient needed to cook ambrosia. |
Positive | Happy +2 (Chance At Life) | The wishing ghost Sim will instantly receive ambrosia in their inventory. |
Overwhelmingly Positive | Happy +3 (Miracle Revival) | The wishing ghost Sim will instantly be resurrected, and can only die again of old age for the next 24 hours. The Sim will be spared should they succumb to any other fatality. |
Alternatively, players can also force positive outcomes from the Wishing Well with the use of cheat commands. This can be done by holding SHIFT + clicking on the Ghost Sim and then selecting ‘Make Happy.’
Next, players can then SHIFT + click on the Whispering Wishing Well and then choose ‘Force Overwhelmingly Positive Outcomes‘.
Lastly, control the Ghost Sim that you wish to bring back to life, then head over to the Wishing Well and select ‘Wish For Life.’
