InZOI Is the New Kid on the Life-Sim Block – But How Does it Compare to The Sims 4?

Over the last week or so, the life-sim community has had a lot of focus on the arrival of Krafton’s brand new release: InZOI. InZOI shares a lot of aspects that will be incredibly familiar to fans of The Sims, and for this reason, it has received a lot of direct comparisons to the title. I’ve gone and racked up double digits when it comes to InZOI hours played so far, so if you’re wondering how this newcomer compares to the classic fan-favourite of The Sims 4, then I’ve got you covered below.

InZOI vs The Sims 4 – How Do They Compare?

Obviously, the major focus for many is the realistic world and character graphics. While The Sims has the charm of that iconic cartoonish style, there’s no denying that InZOI’s graphics look pretty darn good, no matter if you’re just participating in activities around the home, or out and about exploring one of the cities you decide to call home.

Character customization is great, with a variety of stylish outfit presets and clothing items to mix and match. However, one of the most impressive features is Canvas, which works the same way as the Sims Gallery – giving users a place to share their custom creations or download new assets from others. With the presence of this feature at launch, there are essentially endless outfits, preset Zois, and custom furniture that you can download to perfect each character’s aesthetic.

The world itself has made a pretty solid start. As of right now, there are two different cities that you can choose to move into, with a third coming soon.

In addition to this, there are several more cities planned for the future, each one having its own iconic landmarks and interactive attractions such as a Karaoke Bar, Amusement Park, local parks, and more! Right now, there are definitely a few interesting things to do, but the world could benefit from more. But on the other hand, as InZOI is only in Early Access, it’s a bit hard to complain about what we’ve been given to start.

Bugs, Game Crashes, & Hardware Obstacles

However, one drawback InZOI does have is the fact that it is much more unforgiving on limited systems, and has had a bit of a shaky start in terms of crashes and bugs. That may just be one advantage that The Sims continues to have over this new competitor, as the toon style is more friendly to run on the likes of laptops – where InZOI begins to struggle.

Again, though, it’s worth pointing out that InZOI has only just entered the Early Access stage, with plenty more fixes, optimization changes, and new features being added across the rest of 2025 and in the years to come. Truthfully, I see InZOI as a fun new addition to the life-sim scene and a worthy competitor to The Sims. I don’t believe that either of them is superior to the other at this stage.

Rather, there are several key things that The Sims could learn from InZOI, and visa versa. For example, InZOI has a filter system that enables you to change how your world looks/play with different hues, graphic styles, and more. This is such a fun little addition that makes customizing the world to your Zoi even more entertaining and is just a great little bonus to have. On the other hand, The Sims currently seems to run random events and outcomes with more consistency and has the benefit of great gameplay features such as stop/pause ageing, which InZOI currently lacks.

I very much look forward to seeing how both of these games progress across the future, and how they may be able to influence and learn from one another.
