Every cheat code in The Sims 4, so far

A shot from behind showing two Sims sat gaming on a couch. They're facing a TV with clutter lying around from the LilSimsie Cosy Gamer kit.

Sometimes you have a very specific vision in mind for what you want to do in The Sims, without wanting to spend hours getting there. Not to fear – The Sims 4 is crammed full of cheats, tricks, and tips that you can use to get to where you want.

How to use cheats in The Sims 4

You need to take a couple quick steps to get cheats working in The Sims 4. First, you need to open a console box to type cheats into:

PlatformHow to open console
PCCtrl + Shift + C
MacCmd + Shift + C
ConsoleAll trigger buttons

This opens up a text box at the top of your screen that you can type (or paste) your cheats into. But first, you’ll need to use the console box to turn cheats on altogether:

testingcheats true

After typing in your cheat, enter it using one of the following keys:

PlatformHow to enter cheat
PCReturn/enter
MacReturn/enter
Xbox One/Series S/XA
PS4/PS5X

Shift-click cheats

Once you’ve turned testing cheats on using the steps above, you’ll be able to unlock a whole range of new interactions with most items in the game.

Try it out by holding down shift while clicking your Sim or the letterbox to unlock a new menu of interactions. If you’re playing on console, instead of shift-clicking, try the following:

PlatformMethod
Xbox One/Series S/XHold down A and B on your controller while selecting your Sim.
PS4/PS5Hold down O and X while selecting your Sim.

Unlocking these interactions gives you all kinds of new ways to cheat, including filling up your Sim’s motives and adding Sims to your household. Try out shift-clicking different objects and Sims to see what’s available to you.

One of the most useful shift-click cheats is the teleportation cheat. Shift-click the ground where you want your Sim to go and select Teleport to move them there instantly.

Cheating with mods

Three mods are especially useful when using cheats in The Sims 4:

Some cheats are only usable with the AllCheats mod, while the UI Cheats mod makes it possible to cheat with just a couple of clicks. You just need to install them, load them into your game, and you’re good to go.

There are a few cheats in this guide that only work with the AllCheats mod, so make sure you have it installed and running properly if you run into issues.

How to fill all motives

Keeping your Sims happy and healthy is just one small aspect of wider Sims gameplay, and it might be one that you want to ignore completely. Alternatively, you might just be sick of trying to keep on top of everything your Sim needs during a 100 Baby Challenge or have forgotten to feed your Sim while trying to make a masterpiece. It happens.

When that happens, just whack this cheat into the console box:

sims.fill_all_commodities

If you just want to deal with one of their needs, rather than all of them, try this instead:

fillmotive motive_[Need]

How to make Sims immortal

The Grim Reaper floating through a garden with a suitcase in their hand, surrounded by fruit trees and dirt plots.

In addition to the ways you can make a Sim immortal through gameplay, you can also cheat so you never have to worry about getting a ghastly visit from the Grim Reaper. Open up the cheat console and pop this in:

death.toggle false

This will affect the Sim you’re currently playing as. Want to turn it back on? No problem:

death.toggle true

How to edit your Sim in Create-a-Sim

A Sim in Create-a-Sim wearing a black tshirt, shorts, leggings, and trainers.

Once you’ve finished making your Sim in Create-a-Sim, there isn’t normally any way of changing them again significantly. Thankfully, as with most things in The Sims, there’s a cheat for that:

cas.fulleditmode

Next, hold down shift or the relevant keys on your controller and select your Sim. Then, select the Modify in CAS interaction. This can sometimes crash your game, so make sure you’ve saved.

Using this cheat means that any sections of Create-a-Sim that are usually greyed out when editing your Sim via a mirror or wardrobe will be available to interact with.

Build/Buy Mode cheats

There are a bunch of cheats you can use specifically to change up how Build/Buy Mode works. They mostly let you put objects in different places and unlock items you might not have access to otherwise.

How to place objects (almost) anywhere

The console box in The Sims 4 showing cheats enabled and move objects on. It's in front of a cluttered cottage with a Sim talking by the table.

The Sims 4 can be really stringent about where to place items. This gets old quick when you just want to make a cute, cluttered kitchen, but you’re now allowed to put the salt shaker too close to the spice rack.

This is where cheating comes in:

bb.moveobjects on

Entering this cheat makes it so you can put items anywhere – even if they’re really in the way. It also opens up a few new commands so you can place items off the grid or resize them:

CommandExplanation
AltHolding down the alt key while placing an item lets you place it off the grid, so it won’t snap to the square system the game normally runs on. This is great for squeezing items close together.
[ ]The bracket keys let you resize an image, with the left bracket ([) shrinking items and the right bracket (]) expanding them.
Be careful though, as it can screw up shadows and reflections. For example, don’t bother trying it with mirrors, as the reflective area stays the same size.
0, 9Hitting the 0 key lowers objects while the 9 key raises them up. A lot of Simmers do this to give the illusion of an item being placed on top of another item that it can’t snap onto.

For console users, try holding down the triggers and d-pad to make the most of these commands.

How to enter Build/Buy Mode anywhere

A room in build/buy mode in The Sims 4 displaying a lot of new free pride content, alongside some other items from various DLC. The room is rainbow coloured with starlights all over the ceiling, clutter, and a flamingo at the end of the bed.

In the normal scheme of things, there are lots you can’t enter Build/Buy Mode in. This is usually due to restrictions set on the lot – I don’t think most neighbours would appreciate it if you came over and rearranged their furniture – or time-related restrictions, like having an event running.

But, as with most things in The Sims, you can change that:

bb.enablefreebuild

When you enter this cheat, the Build/Buy button in the top-right should stop being greyed out. Select it and you’ll be able to create with infinite money. This cheat is also a great way of avoiding spending your own Simoleons when redecorating your Sim’s house.

How to unlock more items

There are a few types of hidden items in Build/Buy Mode:

  • Debug objects
  • Live edit objects
  • Unlockable items

Debug and live edit objects are items that are hidden from the main menu that are often used during gameplay or by game devs while making new worlds. Examples of these items include clutter you see lying around off of lots, collectables, and plants.

Unlockable items are rewards your Sim gets for completing careers, or for redeeming aspiration points. Using cheats means you can get these items with less graft, which is particularly good if you want the items from a career path you have no intention of playing.

Unlocking debug and live edit objects

Although there are two cheats for these items, you need to enable debug objects to be able to make live edit objects work. So, get started with enabling debug objects:

bb.showhiddenobjects

Next, follow it up with this one:

bb.showliveeditobjects

Your Build/Buy Mode should be flooded with all kinds of extra items now. This can be a bit tricky to sift and sort through, so try searching Debug and filtering the results by different packs to see what’s available.

Unlocking reward items

You can unlock reward items using this cheat:

bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement

If this cheat doesn’t unlock what you’re looking for, try out the other two cheats listed in the above section. They might be tucked away in that message instead.

Skipping Build/Buy cheats using mods

A Sim playing The Sims Forever on a laptop in a cluttered, colourful bedroom in The Sims 4. Their back is to the camera.

You can streamline using Build/Buy Mode cheats by using a couple of TwistedMexi’s mods:

Better BuildBuy organises Debug items more neatly and makes it so you can switch Move Objects on or off with the click of a toggle. TOOL mod, on the other hand, lets you resize and rotate items with much more precision so you can customise your builds as much as possible.

All money cheats

Money cheats are a staple of The Sims franchise. Want to treat your Sims with the finer things in life, but can’t face another day of the grind? Here are a few ways around that:

CheatExplanation
rosebudAdds 1,000 Simoleons to your Household’s bank account.
kachingAlso gives your Sims 1,000 Simoleons. Yes, it is exactly the same as above with a different name.
motherlodeGives your Sims 50,000 Simoleons all at once.
money XReplace the X with whatever sum of Simoleons you want your Sims to have in their bank account. Make sure you write it without any punctuation (e.g. 200000).

How to get one million Simoleons

Want a quick million? Paste this cheat into your console box:

money 1000000

How to get a free house

In the words of Tim and Eric: It’s free real estate. Use this cheat to get your Sim on the property ladder as quickly and easily as possible:

freerealestate on

When you go to move your Sims in now, every property will be free.

How to turn off bills

Every Simoleon saved is a Simoleon earned, so help your Sims out by switching their bills off:

household.autopay_bills false

If you want to turn them back on, for whatever reason, just enter the cheat again with true at the end instead of false. This cheat is especially handy if you’re holidaying in a Rental on a Monday as bills sometimes glitch while you’re away and charge way too much.

All relationship cheats

A bride in The Sims 4 waving at the another Sim at a wedding party. The Sim in the foreground is the child of Eliza and Bob Pancakes. There are some other Sims in the background, including a ghost. It is in the wedding venue in Tartosa.

Relationship cheats aren’t necessarily as bad as they sound in The Sims. Unless you use them that way, I guess.

CheatExplanation
modifyrelationship [Your Sim’s full name] [Other Sim’s full name] X LTR_Friendship_MainThis cheat’s a bit of a mouthful, but if you sub in the right information then it’s useful for fine-tuning relationships.
Replace the placeholders with your Sim’s name followed by the Sim you want them to befriend’s full name. Then, replace the X with any number out of 100 to set their friendship level to that number.
If you add a minus (-) before the number, it’ll push your relationship into the red.
modifyrelationship [Your Sim’s full name] [Other Sim’s full name] X LTR_Romance_MainThis cheat is the same as above except for the romance bar. Maybe not ethical – but useful.
Again, adding a minus (-) before the number will make these Sims hate each other.
modifyrelationship [Your Sim’s full name] [Your pet’s full name] 100 LTR_SimtoPet_Friendship_MainUsing this cheat lets you customise your relationship with your Sim’s pets without the hard work.
It works the same as using the cheat for Sim-to-Sim relationships, so you can also use it to decrease the relationship. I guess the saying isn’t Sim’s Best Friend.
relationships.create_friends_for_simEnter this cheat to have a new friend appear on your Sim’s lot.
relationship.introduce_sim_to_all_othersWho needs to wait for the Welcome Wagon? Enter this cheat to get to know everyone instantly. Makes throwing parties incredibly inconvenient.

All family dynamics cheats (Growing Together)

If you have The Sims 4: Growing Together, you’ve probably noticed that family relationships can get complicated quickly. This is because it added family dynamics, which subtly influence how different family members interact with each other and feel in one another’s company.

Thankfully, if you aren’t happy with how your family is shaping up, you can fix it with this cheat:

relationship.add_bit [Your Sim’s name] [Other Sim’s name] familytrope_[Dynamic]

The dynamics you can substitute into the cheat are:

  • Close
  • Not_Close
  • Distant
  • Not_Distant
  • Jokesters
  • Not_Jokesters
  • Difficult
  • Not_Difficult
  • Compliant_Authority
  • Compliant_Subordinate
  • Not_Compliant
  • Loving_Authority
  • Loving_Subordinate
  • Not_Loving
  • Permissive_Authority
  • Permissive_Subordinate
  • Not_Permissive

Romantic Satisfaction (Lovestruck)

A profile in The Sims 4 showing the Romantic Satisfaction textbox from the UI cheats mod.

The Sims 4: Lovestruck made romantic connections even more complicated by introducing romantic satisfaction and romance dynamics. What do you mean my Sims can’t get away with ghosting his six boyfriends anymore?!

There don’t seem to be cheat codes out there to fix a disastrous relationship quickly. Despite that, we can all be grateful for Weerbesu’s UI Cheats Extension for making it possible to tweak them quickly.

With the mod installed, click on the Sim your Sim is in a relationship with in Live Mode and open up their profile. Look at the Relationship panel to see all the nitty-gritty details. Then, right-click Romance Satisfaction to change it. Phew.

All skill cheats

A group of Sims in the snow at a hobby meetup playing piano and telling jokes. Vlad is there, along with Layne Coffin and a few other townies.

Skills in The Sims 4 are broken down into a couple of categories. Firstly, they’re broken up by age: Toddlers and children each have skills that disappear (or become another skill) when they grow up. All Sims who are teens or older (or some particularly gifted children) then have access to the same skills.

These skills are then known as either major or minor skills. Major skills mostly go up to level 10, while minor skills only go up to level 5. Vampire lore is a weird outlier that goes up to level 15, for some reason. This is important to know because this affects how you cheat these skills.

Cheats for minor skills

All cheats for minor skills follow this formula:

stats.set_skill_level Minor_[Skill name] X

Replace the skill name placeholder with the name of the skill and X with the number you want to reach. So, if you wanted to max out the Photography skill, you would use this cheat:

stats.set_skill_level Minor_Photography 5

Minor skills include:

  • Bowling
  • Cross-stitch
  • Dancing
  • DJ mixing
  • Entrepreneur
  • Juice fizzing
  • Media production
  • Medium
  • Nectar Making
  • Pet training
  • Photography
  • Selvadoradian culture
  • Thanatology

Keep in mind that you’ll only have access to whichever skills are included in the DLC you have. Most minor skills are from Expansions, game packs, and stuff packs.

Cheats for major skills

An easel in The Sims 4 on a terrace in Ravenwood. The drawing is a terrible illustration of a stickman.

Major skill cheats follow almost the same structure as the minor skill cheat:

stats.set_skill_level Major_[Skill name] X

Again, replace the skill name placeholder with the skill you want to level and the X with the level you want to reach. Every skill that isn’t listed above, and isn’t specific to toddlers or children, is considered a major skill.

Child skill cheats

Child Sims don’t just have to worry about school – they also have their own set of skills to worry about:

  • Creativity
  • Mental
  • Motor
  • Social

Cheat these skills to a certain level by substituting them into this:

stats.set_skill_level skill_child_[Skill name] X

Child skills can all reach a max of level 10, so you can change X to anywhere between 1-10.

Toddler skill cheats

Toddlers also have a set of skills they should learn before they age up. They all max out at level 5, besides the potty skill, which maxes out at level 3:

  • Communication
  • Imagination
  • Movement
  • Potty
  • Thinking

Sub each skill into this cheat, and replace the X with whichever level you want them to reach:

stats.set_skill_level skill_toddler_[Skill name] X

All aspiration cheats

Aspirations are a fun way of guiding gameplay, unlocking extra traits, and earning points in The Sims 4. But, sometimes you don’t want to grind through a whole aspiration, or they straight up break on you making it impossible to move forward.

If you don’t want to complete a certain level of an aspiration, use this cheat:

aspirations.complete_current_milestone

This skips the current level you’re at. If you want to skip through the entire aspiration really quickly, copy and paste the cheat into the console a few times in a row to skip all of it.

How to get more satisfaction points

Using the aspiration cheat above will give you however many aspiration points that clearing that level would normally give you. But, if you want the points without completing the aspiration, you have another option:

sims.give_satisfaction_points X

Again, swap out the X for the number of aspiration points you want. This is handy if you want to redeem points in the rewards store for items like the money tree or a retraiting potion.

How to get unlimited potions

So, you have some satisfaction points now. Although you might be beelining to unlock an Undead Cowplant or the magical Money Tree, at some point you’re probably going to want to get some potions. Or at least, you’ll definitely want to once you realise you can make them unlimited:

objects.consumables_infinite_toggle

All career cheats

Celesta Michaelson in The Sims 4 as a doctor in a pink overcoat diagnosing a child patient on a medical bed.

All of the career cheats in The Sims 4 are very similar, but vary depending on particular details about your Sim and their career:

CheatExplanation
careers.promote careers_Adult_[CareerName]Sims who are Young Adults and over in full-time careers will get promoted immediately when you enter this cheat.

Just make sure you replace CareerName with the name of their career, not the name of their current role (e.g. put Astronaut, not Intern).
careers.promote careers_PartTime_[CareerName]Similarly, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Sims in part-time jobs will get a promotion when you use this cheat.
careers.promote careers_Teen_[CareerName]Teen Sims who’ve picked up an after-school job (or who’ve dropped out of high school) will receive a promotion when this cheat is entered.
careers.demote careers_Adult_[CareerName]Swapping promote out for demote makes your Sim drop a rank in their career, should you want to.
careers.demote careers_PartTime_[CareerName]Demotes a Sim with a part-time job.
careers.demote careers_Teen_[CareerName]Does the same as above, but for Teens.
sims.modify_career_outfit_in_casLets you change up your Sim’s work uniform in Create-a-Sim. Time to dress for the job your Sim wants instead of the one they have.

Career cheats glitching out?

Cheats bug out sometimes, so if you’re having problems with the versions in the table you can always try a simplified version:

careers.promote [CareerName]

Should this version work instead, then try following the same format for all of the career commands.

Active careers

Active careers are jobs where you control your Sim while they’re there. The Scientist career that came with The Sims 4: Get to Work is one example of this. Sometimes, they have their own cheat:

careers.promote adult_active_[CareerName]

All of the other cheats work the same, you just have to make sure you’re adding the “active” qualifier between adult and the career name.

Freelancer careers

Again, much like their active counterparts, freelancers have a slightly different cheat:

careers.promote adult_freelancer_[CareerName]

This one can be a bit touch-and-go, so if you run into any problems, try this format instead:

careers.promote adult_agency_[CareerName]

You can then use this format for any of the other career cheats, such as demotion.

Business cheats

Sims can take an alternative route to employment by running their own business. Each of the main business types have their own cheats you can use to make it easier.

Restaurant cheats (Dine Out)

With Dine Out, all of your Sims can be restaurateurs. But with cheats, they can do it much better. Cheats let you toggle perks on and off with ease which change how you run your eatery.

All of the cheats you’ll need for Dine Out are formatted like this:

bucks.unlock_perk [PerkName] true

You can remove perks by changing the true to false.

Retail cheats (Get to Work)

Before Businesses & Hobbies, Get to Work introduced retail properties to The Sims 4. Much like restaurants, you can use perks to micromanage your shop, and they can be cheated in:

bucks.unlock_perk [PerkName] true

Again, to get rid of a perk, you can just change it to false.

Some cheats need a little more information than just the name of the perk. For example, there are two different perks associated with hiring additional workers for your shop. So, you’re going to need to specify which perk it is you want to redeem:

bucks.unlock_perk AdditionalWorker_1 true

Small Business cheats (Businesses & Hobbies)

A Sim running a laundromat with colourful washers lined up against the wall. The Sim has her back to the camera and is wearing a purple housecoat.

You can cheat your way through your small business to change your perks and alignment.

Business ranks

Your small business has a rank between 1 and 5, ranging from being pretty much unknown to being the next big thing. Use this cheat and swap X for whichever rank you want your business to be:

Business.set_Rank X
Business alignments

Small businesses vary from being Nefarious to Virtuous. The joys of the free market.

You can change your business alignment using this cheat:

stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_SmallBusiness_Reputation X

Change the X to a figure between 0 and 400, with 0 being the most morally bankrupt type of company and 400 being the most ethical.

Small Business Perks

Small businesses of all varieties can also get a look in at perks, but it’s more complicated than it was with its predecessors.

The easiest way of getting every perk for your Small Business is by using this cheat:

business.unlock_all_Small_Business_Perks

If you want to unlock or remove a specific business perk instead, you’re going to need to find your Sim ID and use this format:

Bucks.unlock_perk SmallBusinessPerks_[Alignment]_[Perk] [true/false] [SimID]
Mastery perks

Mastery perks are another system added with The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies. The perks are pretty easy to add on using a traits cheat:

traits.equip_trait trait_MasteryPerk_[PerkName]

Vet clinic cheats (Cats & Dogs)

Vet clinics run on a perk system, too:

bucks.unlock_perk [PerkName] true

Much like other businesses, some perks will need slightly more complicated names, so use some trial and error if you can’t get the cheat to work.

All education cheats

Two Sims looking at the camera at a high school football day. The Sim on the left has long pink hair. The Sim on the right is Savannah Price. They are wearing sports gear.

Sims spend so much of their lives in formal education, starting with Grade School as children with the possibility of going all the way up to University. There are also extracurriculars and afterschool activities to worry about, which work similarly to careers.

School is tough for everyone, Sims included. So, make it easier by cheating:

CheatExplanation
careers.promote gradeschoolIncreases your Child Sim’s grade by one level.
careers.demote gradeschoolDecreases your Child Sim’s grade by one level.
careers.promote highschoolGives your Teen Sim a grade boost of one level.
careers.demote highschoolBrings your Teen Sim down a letter grade.
university.graduateInstantly makes your Sim graduate from their degree with a flawless Grade Point Average.
university.finish_termInstantly ends the University term.
university.accept_all_degreesAllows your Sim to enroll on any Distinguished Degree program even if they don’t have the grades or skills needed to do so.
university.award_all_degreesGives a Sim every single degree in the game. Talk about being over-qualified.

University degrees in the Sims are considered to be integral traits (which I’m sure doesn’t give your Sims any issues with how they view themselves) so you’ll need to use the trait cheats covered below to give them one.

Extracurricular activities

Sims of all academic levels can enjoy some after-school activities, but it’s a lot to balance without some help.

After-school activities for children and teens

Two Sims taking a selfie at prom; one is Cassandra Goth. They are dressed in over the top formalwear. Cassandra is dressed in all black while the other Sim is all in pink. There is a drinks fountain behind them.

Children and teens have more options for activities than they have spare time. The syntax for cheating your way through them is basically the same as career cheats for adults.

Children can be scouts or join the drama club. These are considered careers, so you can use the same cheats you would for other jobs, such as:

careers.promote scout

Or:

careers.demote drama club

And other similar commands.

High School activities use the following formula to add careers:

careers.add_career careers_Volunteer_HSTeam_[TeamName]

Then, the same as any other career, you can change the first part of the cheat using any of the other prefixes, like:

careers.promote careers_Volunteer_HSTeam_[TeamName]

And so on.

University societies and activities

The Sims 4: Discover University comes with a massive number of clubs, societies, activities, and voluntary roles to help you settle into scholarly life.

Voluntary roles are promoted or demoted similarly to careers:

CheatExplanation
careers.promote careers_Volunteer_E-SportsAdvances a level in the E-Sports Team Player volunteer track.
careers.demote careers_Volunteer_E-SportsDemotes a Sim in the E-Sports Team Player volunteer track.
careers.promote careers_Volunteer_SoccerTeamPromotes Sims who are volunteer Soccer Team Players by one level.
careers.demote careers_Volunteer_SoccerTeamDemotes a Sim one level in the Soccer volunteer track.

If you want to make a Sim join a society, then use this syntax:

Loot.Apply_To_Sim Loot_Organization_Join_[Keyword] [SimName]

Or if you want them to quit, use this one:

Loot.Apply_To_Sim Loot_Organization_Quit_[Keyword [SimName]

The keywords for each society are mostly straightforward, but some are a little harder to figure out:

KeywordSociety
ArtArt Society
DebateDebate Guild
PrankSpirit Corps
RoboticsBot Savants
HonourBrainiacs
PartySpirit Squad
SecretOrder of Enchantment Secret Society

Then, to increase which level of the society your Sim is, use one of these cheats:

Cheat Explanation
Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_ArtSociety 1Sets Art Society progress to level 1.
Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_ArtSociety 166Sets Art Society progress to level 2.
Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_ArtSociety 333Sets Art Society progress to level 3.
Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_Debate 1Sets Debate Guide progress to level 1.

Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_SecretSociety 166Sets Secret Society progress to level 2.
Stats.Set_Stat RankedStatistic_CollegeOrganization_Progress_SecretSociety 333Sets Secret Society progress to level 3.

Keep in mind that the Spirit Squad and Spirit Corps are, bizarrely, two different clubs. The Spirit Squad is for Foxbury students while the Spirit Corps are for Britechester students.

All traits cheats

Two ghost Sims - one being Olive Spector - sat on the side of a fountain in Ravenswood.

A lot of things in The Sims 4 are categorised as traits, including:

  • Traits assigned in Create-a-Sim
  • Occult status
  • Education level
  • Reward traits
  • Whether you can use chopsticks well
  • If you’re the child of an occult Sim (Like Father Winter)
  • How you died
  • Lifestyles
  • Childhood phases
  • Fears

And so many more niche things you wouldn’t believe it. These cheats all follow a similar syntax:

traits.equip_trait [CheatName]

This is great because once you know that, you can feel around until you find the trait you’re looking for. Generally speaking, the phrase you sub into the cheat is just the name of the trait.

You can also remove traits using a similar method:

traits.remove_trait [CheatName]

The easiest way of sorting out your Sims’ traits, though, is by using mods. Both the UI Cheats mod and MC Command Centre are super helpful for this if you play on PC or Mac.

Lifestyle cheats

As expected, lifestyle cheats follow almost the same structure as other trait cheats, but with a little extra text:

traits.equip_trait trait_lifestyles_[lifestylename]

Or

traits.remove_trait trait_lifestyles_[lifestylename]

The key difference is the addition of _lifestyles_ after trait in the second section of the cheat.

Childhood phase cheats

Children and teens go through phases in their lives, which you can conveniently trigger (or remove) yourself using this cheat:

traits.equip_trait childhoodphase_[phasename]

You can also remove them by changing “equip” to “remove”.

Milestone cheats

Sims get milestones throughout their lives by experiencing different things. It can feel pretty weird starting off with an older Sim who doesn’t have any milestones, particularly if you like to use storytelling much in your saves.

The best and easiest way of doing this is by using the UI Cheats mod by Weerbesu. With the mod installed, head to your Sim’s Simology panel and right-click the panel to add Milestones.

Play on console, or prefer to avoid mods? You’ll need to use variations on this cheat code instead:

lifeMilestone_[MilestoneName]

For example, if you wanted to mark each of your Sim’s birthdays from before you joined them on their journey, try this:

lifeMilestone_Birthday

Or, if you want a The Sims 2-accurate Bella Goth in your save, use this cheat:

lifeMilestone_AbductedByAliens

Can’t get your cheat to work? Some milestones use this format instead:

lifeMilestone_Life_[MilestoneName]

Some milestones are slightly more complicated to add, so we’ll cover that in more detail below.

Developmental milestones

Two Sims in the Feng family, an adult and an infant, in The Sims 4. The infant is shuffling on the ground on their knees. It's in Ravenwood at the big manor with tendrils and fairy lights in the background.

Raising Infants and Toddlers makes a massive amount of use of the milestone system. You can make your Sim’s lives much simpler by using this cheat to unlock all of them:

developmental_milestones.unlock_all_milestones

As well as being great for breezing through the terrible twos, using this cheat is also nice for older Sims, since they won’t come preprogrammed with any of those early-years memories.

Want to be a little more selective about which milestones you cross off? That’s more of a challenge, even when you’re cheating, but it’s entirely possible.

Infant milestones

For infants, follow this structure:

developmental_milestones.unlock_milestone infantMilestones_[TypeOfMilestone]_[NameOfMilestone]

So, for instance, this cheat would make your tiny Sim able to crawl:

developmental_milestones.unlock_milestone infantMilestones_GrossMotor_Crawl

The types of milestones Infants can have are:

  • Generic
  • Gross motor
  • Fine motor
  • Social
Toddler milestones

In many ways, Infants and Toddlers are mostly alike, but with a couple of small differences. Using cheats with them is no different. Again, start your cheat off with:

developmental_milestones.unlock_milestone

But this time, the rest of the cheat will look like this:

developmental_milestones.unlock_milestone lifeMilestone_Toddler_[MilestoneName]

For example:

developmental_milestones.unlock_milestone lifeMilestone_Toddler_FirstFriend

Awww.

Character values

The Sims 4: Parenthood added depth to Sims’ personalities by adding a few scales that they could fall on:

  • Conflict resolution
  • Emotional control
  • Empathy
  • Manners
  • Responsibility

Normally, these character values are shaped by your Sim’s behaviour, upbringing, and the outcomes of chance-card events. With cheats, you can change your Sims’ values with a few simple words.

Changing character values makes use of the life skill statistic cheat:

stats.set_stat lifeskillstatistic_[charactervalue] X

Sub the X out for any figure between -100 up to 100 to adjust their character value.

For instance, if you wanted to make your Sims have heaps of empathy, you would use this:

stats.set_stat lifeskillstatistic_empathy 100

If only real life was so easy.

Moodlet and buff cheats

Sims’ moods are mostly shaped by their moodlets, as you might expect from the name. You can alter these moodlets easily with UI cheats or by using satisfaction points to unlock potions. However, you can also use TwistedMexi’s All Cheats mod to add or remove moodlets.

This cheat is particularly handy for the hyper-specific moodlets your Sims get from certain interactions, experiences, and item types. When adding moodlets, use this cheat:

sims.add_buff [Moodlet_Source Moodlet_Name]

And when removing them, use this one:

sims.remove_buff [Moodlet_Source Moodlet_Name]

Unless you want to get rid of all of the moodlets a Sim has at a given time, in which case you should use this:

sims.remove_all_buffs

The best way of finding out about all of them is by heading to TwistedMexi’s site.

Occult cheats

A Sim in Vlad's basement looking at his vampire coffin. A pipe organ is in the background. It's all dimly lit and built out of grey stone.

You can use cheats to turn Sims into occult types (like mermaids or vampires) using traits cheats the same way you would with any other trait. To illustrate:

traits.equip_trait trait_OccultVampire

Turns your Sim into a vampire without all the fuss.

Most occults in The Sims 4 have other cheats associated with them, too.

Ranked statistics

Some occults, like vampires, werewolves, and spellcasters, have different ranks. These ranks are changed by hidden point systems. You can tweak how many points a Sim has using these cheats:

CheatExplanation
stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_WitchOccult_WitchXP XSwap X out for a number 0 and 2850 to change which rank your spellcaster is.
stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_Occult_VampireXP XChange X to a figure between 0 and 1593 to level up or down your vampire.
stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_Werewolf_Progression XReplace X with any number from 0 to 3000 to become a stronger (or weaker) werewolf.

Strangerville cheats

Without spoiling the pack, you can get a few different traits from playing around in Strangerville:

traits.equip_trait strangerville_[infected/vaccinated]

Hidden traits

There are a handful of traits that are “hidden”, meaning you might not know if your Sim has them. The cheat for them gets tweaked accordingly:

traits.equip_trait trait_hidden_[Trait_Name]

You can do this to change things like your Sims’ handedness or preference for fruitcake.

Fame cheats (Get Famous)

The Sims 4: Get Famous puts your Sims on the road to, well, fame. It’s not an easy road, but it’s easier when you’re cheating.

You don’t need a cheat code to make your Sim famous, but you will need to make use of shift-click cheats. Shift-click your Sim and look for the Public Image interaction. Clicking this opens a menu that lets you set both their fame level and their reputation.

Fame points, perks, and quirks

To get more fame points to spend on fame perks, use this simple cheat:

famepoints X

As usual, just switch the X out for the number of points you want. You can also cheat specific perks in using a different cheat, but it’s far, far easier to just get fame points. If you want to try it the hard way though:

bucks.unlock_perk [PerkName] true [SimID]

The cheat for unlocking fame quirks is the same:

bucks.unlock_perk [QuirkName] true [SimID]

How to find your Sim ID

The thing that makes these cheats awkward is having to find your Sim’s ID beforehand. It’s a useful thing to know how to do, though, since some of the more complicated cheats in the game do make use of them:

sims.get_sim_id_by_name [Sim’s full name]

Club cheats (Get Together)

A Sim in a nightclub throwing a peace sign while taking a selfie. There are other Sims dancing behind him. He's dressed in all white with a cowboy hat. The room is lit neon pink and blue and there is a dancefloor behind him.

There aren’t really any built-in club cheats by default, but with the All Cheats mod you can use this cheat to get club points:

tm.clubcredit x

There are also a few things you can do with clubs with the UI interface cheat mod. Nsole players will have to stick to the grind, though.

Environment cheats

Using cheats with Seasons and Eco Lifestyle installed both gives you a lot of control over your Sims’ environments.

Seasons cheats (Seasons)

Climate in The Sims 4 works on two axes: temperature and weather. For this reason, the cheat also changes in two ways:

weather.start_weather_event weather_[Type of weather]_[Temperature]

The types of weather you can choose from are:

  • Sunny
  • Rain
  • Cloudy
  • Snow
  • Sunshower

When using Rain or Snow, you also need to specify how heavy it should be:

  • Light
  • Heavy
  • Storm

On the other hand, your temperature options are:

  • Freezing
  • Cold
  • Cool
  • Warm
  • Burning
  • Thundersnow

Yes, thundersnow is covered by the temperature part of the cheat for some reason. Heatwaves are cheated in slightly differently, with both the type of weather and temperature covered at the same time:

weather.start_weather_event weather_heatwave
A menu in The Sims 4 using the UI cheat mod showing how to change the current weather.

Although you can manipulate weather using cheats like these, it’s a bit easier to do using the UI commands mod. With the mod installed, you can change the weather simply by right-clicking the weather and temperature indicators at the bottom of Live Mode. You can also change the seasons and make the in-game time jump forwards like this.

Climate cheats (Eco Lifestyle)

With Eco Lifestyle installed, each neighbourhood has its own microclimate that’s shaped by how green (or not) your Sims’ actions are. This is called the Eco Footprint. You can change a neighbourhood’s Eco Footprint using these cheats:

CheatExplanation
Eco_Footprint.Set_Eco_Footprint_State 0This sets the Eco Footprint to green, which means the environment is as clean as possible in the area.
Eco_Footprint.Set_Eco_Footprint_State 1This makes the neighbourhood’s Eco Footprint neutral, which is the default most areas are set to.
Eco_Footprint.Set_Eco_Footprint_State 3This is the industrial Eco Footprint, so expect to see smog and garbage if you use this cheat.
