Recapture the magic of childhood with The Sims 4’s Forever Friends Event

A new event series for The Sims 4 is right around the corner. In turn, that also means we’re set to see a whole bunch of free stuff being added to our games, too. So long as we remember to log in on time, that is.

Get ready for the Forever Friends Event: a smorgasbord of cute new items inspired by the magic of childhood, from plushies to bangles and beyond. We’re even going to be treated to a whole new selection of collectables.

What is The Sims 4’s Forever Friends Event?

Sims 4 events are a series of rewards that get added to your game when you boot up and complete goals during a set window of time. Most recently, we saw the Nature’s Calling Event, which was a tie-in with the Enchanted By Nature Expansion Pack.

The Forever Friends Event will happen in the run-up to the release of the franchise’s next Expansion, the holidaymaking-themed Adventure Awaits. It’s going to run from September 23rd, all the way through until November 4th, during which we’ll have the chance to unlock the rather adorable Pixel the Friendly Bear Plushie.

Events in The Sims 4 have always been free – so far, at least. They basically supplement the paid-for content that comes out during that quarter. For that reason, they’re also always themed pretty closely to whatever new paid-for content is on the horizon.

What’s included in the Forever Friends Event?

The Sims Team has shared a full Roadmap of exactly what items we can expect to unlock during the event on a weekly basis.

We can look forward to unlocking:

  • Pixel the Friendly Bear Plushie, a large interactable plush like Blarffy.
  • A decorated mirror covered in stickers.
  • A selection of bangles that may be for Child Sims.
  • New baked potatoes (or some kind of roundish group meal, at least).
  • Either a new frame for custom photographs or options for posing for selfies with plushies.
  • A cutaway vest and tube-top for older Sims.
  • A throw cushion with geometric patterns.
  • Some kind of devious-looking bunny bedtime light. It doesn’t look much like Freezer Bunny, that’s for sure…
  • Trainers/sneakers, also for older Sims.
  • Leggings, again for older Sims.
  • Some rather cute overalls with a belt and t-shirt under it for Teens Sims and older.
  • A mysterious new trait, showing an inquisitive mind with a thoughtbulb above it.
  • Adorable fuzzy onesies for Child Sims, looking like Pixel. Does this come in any bigger sizes?
  • Magnet collectables, with some iconic and familiar faces included. Is that Yamachan I see? And the dino who hangs out in Oasis Springs?

To Sylvan Glade, and beyond

Alongside the Roadmap graphic, EA also shared a video trailer teasing the Forever Friends Event. The trailer stars a Child Sim embarking on a journey through what appears to be Willow Creek’s secret hidden world: Sylvan Glade. They venture through a magical tree into a super-saturated world full of huge pink trees on a whimsical adventure with Pixel.

The hidden worlds of Willow Creek and Oasis Springs haven’t had a lot of love in a while, so it’s interesting to see them being brought up again. Maybe we can hope for some kind of gameplay refresh surrounding them?

Another interesting part of the event is that it ends on November 4th. We heard this date mentioned in the Quality of Life Roadmap shared earlier this week, with the promise that it would bring loads of freebies. It’s not totally clear whether those freebies will just be the last event rewards, or whether we can expect a little something extra at the end of the rainbow.
