EA restores the balance with new Sims 4 update

The launch of The Sims 4’s 19th Expansion Pack, Enchanted By Nature, hasn’t been so smooth. When the fairy-themed DLC landed in July, a whole raft of bugs, glitches, and errors came with it. A few patches and updates have rolled out in response over the past few weeks, with the most recent update arriving on July 29th.

This update sets out to tune Enchanted By Nature’s new sickness system, ailments, while also fixing fairy wing animations and managing other features relating to the new pack. Enchanted By Nature isn’t the only pack that’s getting fixed up, though, with Werewolves and Get To Work also getting mentions in the patch notes.

What’s included in The Sims 4’s July 29th update?

This patch is a pretty big one. The official patch notes highlight a few key changes:

  • Ailments are now less contagious. Your Sims will now contract them up to 75% less.
  • They’ve made some tweaks to the balance system, meaning that Sims are a little less likely to become Very Imbalanced.
  • A few improvements have been made to the Naturopath career, including giving them holiday leave (if you have Seasons installed).
  • Singed Sims who clean themselves off with a sponge bath or pond will now come out looking less charred.
  • You can pick different coloured werewolf noses in Create-a-Sim again.
  • A bug preventing Sims from staying at work or school while other Sims commute during limited-time events has been fixed.
  • DLC outfits, including aliens from Get to Work, have been repaired and will no longer appear invisible or dark.

How to fix the console connectivity problem with The Sims 4

If you play on console, you might’ve run into some problems trying to unlock everything from the Nature’s Calling event and been blocked from accessing the gallery. This is probably because of a User Agreement box that won’t appear correctly, per the recent patch notes.

Thankfully, the Sims Team are investigating it. Until they find a permanent solution, they suggest trying out the following steps to get back into the gallery:

  1. Save your game. This step is really important to make sure you don’t lose any data.
  2. Open Game Options, then go to Other.
  3. Select Link EA Account.
  4. Accept the User Agreement.
  5. Select confirm to restart your game.

Which game version does this patch bring the game up to?

Which game version it is depends on which platform you play on. PC Simmers are on 1.116.240.1020, while Mac players are on 1.116.240.1220. Play on console? Your game version will be 2.17.

One more problem the patch notes addressed was related to the new fairy wings. Some Simmers have noticed that fairy wings don’t appear in some cases you might expect them to, like when they’re flying around.

The Sims Team are looking into fixing this problem, but they need more information to do so. Make sure to head over to their forums if it’s happened to you.
