The Sims 4 Life & Death Gameplay Trailer Introduces Us To The Business Of Death

The official The Sims YouTube channel has released an extensive, 5 minute, trailer detailing a whole bunch of new content and features coming with the new Life & Death Expansion Pack.

The new pack, which releases on October 31st, focuses — as you can probably guess — around the end of a Sim’s life. Where death, whether player-caused or untimely, would have previously been a hard-stop in their life (at least, in vanilla Sims) it’s now a new beginning, with the option to continue playing as a ghost and even be reborn back into the world of the living.

The Sims 4 Life & Death Soul's Journey

It all revolves around Bucket Lists. Sims can collect Bucket List goals and earn rewards for completing them, however if they die with unfinished business then they can shift to a more spectral, spooky form. You can then become a benevolent or sinister spectre, earning essences which can be sold on for Simoleans — complete your bucket list and unfinished business and you can be reborn.

Rebirth in The Sims 4: Life & Death is a chance to re-enter the world of the living at whichever age-group and with whichever family that you wish, and to bring over some of your traits (or, at least, a little boost) with you. And, on the subject of traits, there are three new ones included, including Macabre.

Grieving Rituals, a thanatology skill, collectable Tarot Cards, Crows as pets, explorable crypts and the ability to create and deliver wills are also in.

While rebirth and becoming a ghost are central to the expansion pack, it also adds in two new careers: An off-screen, Mortician career and the active (heavily detailed in the trailer) Reaper career, where you work directly for Grim at his office while occasionally heading off to reap souls in the field.

The Sims 4 Life & Death releases on October 31st, if you buy it before December 12th then you also get the Macabre Mementos Digital Content which includes the Lasting Legacy Family Portrait, Mournful Melodies Music Box, and Plumed Elegance Mask.
